1st Guilden Sutton Cubs
Cubs is open to boys
and girls aged 8 - 10½ years. We meet every Monday during School Term in the School Hall
from 6.30 to 8.00 pm.
Two of the older Cubs (Sixers) along with a Parent enjoyed a variety of activities at a
District event (Sixer and Adult day) at Queen Charlottes Wood campsite one Sunday in
September. Cubs helped with the refreshments at the Sutton Six running event, also in
September. £74 was raised for Cub funds. Thirteen Cubs (a very good turnout), along with
some Parents enjoyed a 5 ½ mile hike on the Sandstone Trail one Sunday in October. Each
Cub cooked bacon butties for lunch en route. At the end of October we held a Science
evening with plenty of "hands on" experiments and activities to do.
Guilden Sutton Cubs is a thriving pack of 18, although at present very short of leaders.
At Cubs there are 4 main awards to achieve which are progressive as the Cubs get older.
Ideally the Cubs are split into groups, each one with a leader. At present there is one
Leader (myself ) and an Instructor (Marlies Lukkes) who run the Cubs each week. We operate
a rota for additional Parent help. However Marlies Lukkes is moving to Holland next March
which leaves only one Leader. To ensure continuation of the Cub Pack I would like one
other regular helper. If you are interested in having fun with the Cubs and would like to
become involved then please contact me. Thanks to Marlies for all her help with the Cubs
over the past year.
Providing we have another regular helper there are vacancies next year for children who
live in Guilden Sutton and have just turned 8 years of age. If you would like your child
to join or be put on the waiting list please contact me.
