1st Guilden Sutton Cubs
Cubs is open to boys and girls aged 8 - 10½ years. We meet every
Monday during School Term in the School Hall from 6.30 - 8.00 pm.
During the last weekend of June the Cubs had a great time camping at Birchwood, Sandiway.
We had great weather and enjoyed many outdoor activities. The theme was 'Space' and the
Cubs made rockets, discovered an 'alien', followed an observation trail in silence (very
challenging!) and used their pioneering skills to make flagpoles for their flags. The
highlight of the day for many was sending rockets 50 feet into the air. The day ended
round a campfire singing songs. Our helpers for
the weekend provided the sketches! The following day the Cubs lit their own small fires
and did some outdoor cooking - toasted marshmallows, dough twists and bananas with
chocolate chips all went down well.
At the end of camp we said farewell to our Group Scout Leader Lynne Evans who has been
involved with Guilden Sutton Cubs for 15 years. Many will remember Lynne as Akela. We wish
to thank her for all she has done for Cubs and Scouts in Guilden Sutton. She will always
be welcome at our Cub camps.
Guilden Sutton Cubs is a thriving pack of 18, although at present very short of leaders.
At Cubs there are 4 main awards to achieve, which are progressive as the Cubs get older.
Ideally the Cubs are split into groups, each one with a leader. If you would like to
become involved with Guilden Sutton Cubs please contact me.
At present there are a few vacancies for children who live in Guilden Sutton and have just
turned 8 years of age. If you would like your child to join or be put on the waiting list
please contact me.
