Going through our regular activities, the village lottery continues to flourish and is providing a very important steady contribution to the Association's funds. Its organisation has recently moved from Alan Jackson to John Riley, and I would like to congratulate both on the effort they and all the collectors put in on our behalf throughout the year. There is an opportunity for those who wish to join the village lottery to complete a standing order form and have a chance to help the Association, and to win some money at the same time. An application form is included with this issue of the Marigold.

I would like to thank Alan for all the hard work he has done for the village since he has been involved with the Association. Over the last 10 years, he has been a member of the Executive, has taken over and run the lottery and has organised the hanging baskets and the automatic watering system, as well as a number of other jobs. I will miss Alan's sound advice on the Executive, and the Association will miss the work that he does.

Fortunately, the Quiz is still there and as enjoyable as ever. It is the same tried and tested formula and still goes down as well as ever. It is one of the longest running social activities that we have in the Hall and very important because of that. It also attracts people who would not otherwise come into the Hall. I am glad that Al Christmas and Viv and their helpers are still happy to put it on. I am very grateful to them for it.

The Sutton Six and Fun Runs are another regular event and this has now settled down with Richard Batterham and the West Cheshire AC organising them. My thanks to Richard and his team for all the work that they do in organising this event.

I would also like to thank John Beavan, who does such an excellent job with the
Marigold newsletter.  He continues to produce a high quality product in a very professional way. As I have already mentioned, it is read regularly by a large number of people in the village and John is another of the many volunteers who we value greatly.

Lastly I would like to thank the members of the Executive and Hall Management Committees for their efforts over the past year. I think we have an interesting year ahead of us. I look forward to working with you throughout it.
